So we were at the bank changing accounts for the college-aged teen.
And I happened to look over at John sitting there (pretty decent behavior),
and thought, “why doesn’t John have a bank account yet?”
So now he does.
The banker was awesome in explaining it all to John.
The teller and John then did their parts of the transaction.
It is a bank cash card account. I can put as little as $5 on it.
(You see, we aren’t making much progress with dimes, nickels and quarters.
So I decided to leapfrog coins and go for the plastic.)
Oh, you should have seen John’s face!
He knew something special was going on.
He signed the documents.
Later, he paid for breakfast with the bank card.
Oh, you should have seen his face!
He knew something special was going on.
He put on the tip, did the TouchMath, and signed his name.
Both the banker and the restaurant manager had been very patient with John.
And, if John runs off to Mexico by himself, I am only out $5.
Growing-awareness joy, on that little face.
Try this with your kids?
Peace be with us,
Gayle
